Cricket Wireless is an affordable, no contract cell phone carrier in the United States and will be launching a new smartphone released by ZTE. ZTE, which makes handsets and tablets, is trying to increase the brand awareness in the United States and in doing so, is planning the launch of the ZTE Score through Cricket Wireless soon. as with other phones that are offered by Cricket, the targeted audience is the average person on the street that doesn’t have the money to afford the high-end devices like the iPhone, but would like the functionality of a smartphone as a cell phone upgrade.
The ZTE Score will be powered by Android 2.3 and comes with a slower than average single-core 600MHz processor, 512MB of available RAM and a 3.5-inch touch screen. The phone comes with a 3.2MP camera backside that also captures video, although I am not sure of the video quality. The phone comes with support for music files, video playback, FM radio and YouTube viewing. The included browser will support HTML, but not flash. The Score does not have an internal memory listed by does day it will support up to 32GB via microSD card. through in Bluetooth and Wi-FI support and a microUSB port for charging and those are most of the notable features you will get.
Cricket announced the release and plans to start selling the phones via Best Buy locations all over the United States. The phone will have a suggested retail price of $130 attached to it. You should plan on seeing this smartphone in your local Best Buy store on, or around, the 25th of September. Cricket is a small carrier with only 5.7 million customers throughout the United States. The ZTE Score comes with Cricket’s Muve Music service which gives you unlimited access to music downloads from many major record labels.
ZTE has been trending up in sales throughout the global market and is currently the fifth largest mobile phone vendor in the world, which is right behind Apple according to research firm IDC. For the second quarter, sales of ZTE handsets have increased about 36 percent year-over-year. Earlier this year ZTE has also launched a low-end handset called the Salute and that phone was launched with the largest carrier in the United States, Verizon Wireless.
