How do you use "accents" of punctuation in MS Word (like in cafe or resume)? - ms Word

Like in the words, cafe and resume…how do you put the accents on the e?

On Azerty keyboard, é can be found under 2, è under 7 and the accents can be put on any letter by ctrl + alt + two buttons.

I have no idea how to literally type them on Qwerty, but you can use alt-codes to do so:

é = alt + 130
ê = alt +136
ë = alt +137
è = alt +138

(that's, hold alt and then press the number on your keyboard)

– - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - –

Edit: why did we both get a thumbs down thingy, while we only tried our best to help?

Acute accent:
Hold down the option key (alt) and press e.
Then let go and press e again.
café, resumé

Circumflex:
Hold down the option (alt) key and press i to get a circumflex (Nîmes) Then press the letter you wish to have a circumflex (tête).

Grave accent:
Hold down the option key and press `then press e to get è.

Cedilla under c
Hold down the option key and press c to get a cedilla under the c (garçon).

Dieresis:
Hold down the option key and press u to get a dieresis (Noël) then press e.

Several ways to do it èëê ☺☻♥♦♣♠•◘○
All IBM keyboards do the "hold down alt, press a number combination on the number pad with num lock on (not the numbers above qwertyuiop) then let go alt" don't they?

Thumbs down are sometimes from other people trying to get extra points for themselves, don't worry about them.

Easy, if you have a US international keyboard, or UK keyboard: press ALT GR + e

ALT codes won't work unless you have the numbers lock on and enter the code using the keypad.

"Regular laptop" does not mean much. What matters more is what country you are in and what kind of keyboard you have.
